The Loboc Children’s Choir (LCC) will be coming to Australia in July! A three-time National Champion of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists, the LCC is world-renowned for their inspiring and heartwarming musical performances. The LCC will be performing in Plumpton and Liverpool, New South Wales on July 3–4, 2015.
Founded in 1980, the LCC was founded in Loboc Central Elementary School in Loboc, Bohol. Primarily established to enliven school and community events, the LCC has since joined and won numerous national and international musical competitions. The LCC has successfully performed all over the Philippines and in the various parts of the world, including South Korea, Vietnam, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Germany, Hungary, and Switzerland, among many others. The LLC was also given the honor to perform before Queen Sofia of Spain during her cultural exchange visit to the Philippines.
In conjunction with the Philippines theatre group Dulaang Kasing Sining and the Whitlam Leisure Centre, the LCC will hold charity concerts in the Performing Arts Centre in Plumptom and in the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Liverpool on July 3 and 4, respectively. Proceeds from the concerts will go to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of schools and churches that were severely damaged by the 2013 Bohol earthquake. With a magnitude of 7.2, the earthquake leveled centuries-old structures, including the San Pedro Apostol Parish Church, also known as the Loboc Church.
You can view their heartrending performance of Josh Groban’s “The Prayer” on TV Patrol here. Performed right after the earthquake struck Bohol, this act brought many Filipinos to tears.
