One-Stop Shop for OFW Requirements Now Open at POEA Building

Becoming an OFW is far from easy. From working out exactly what kind of visa you need to coming up with a sufficient budget, each step of the process requires a considerable amount of time, effort, and money. Shuttling between various government offices to get the required documents is taxing enough if you live in Manila, but imagine how much harder it is for OFW applicants from farther provinces?

To its credit, the Duterte administration has recently come up with a more efficient way to meet the needs of our OFW’s. Last August 15, the country’s first-ever One-Stop Service Center for OFW’s (OSSCO) was launched at the ground floor of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration’s (POEA) main office at the Blas F. Ople Building in Ortigas.

True to its name, the OSSCO enables OFW’s and overseas jobs applicants to secure crucial documents like passports, certificates of marriage and/or birth, competency assessments, etc. all in one place. POEA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac has even stated that the center is capable of serving 2,000-3,000 OFW’s every day from Monday to Friday, though the said government agency is currently considering extending working hours over to weekends and certain holidays.

All overseas applicants and OFW’s can now avail of the following government services at this one-stop shop:
